In order to be sure of the high quality and durability of our tables and chairs we have had certain designs from many of the sections independently tested by The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA). Our range of Bentwood bar and restaurant furniture includes the Fanback Bentwood chairs which are available with or without arms, Tall Fanback bar chairs, Bentwood tall bar stools and low stools and many more. These designs are accurate reproductions of the traditional bar and restaurant chairs first produced in the 19th Century by Michael Thonet. He experimented with the steam timber bending process to produce extremely attractive and inexpensive cafe chairs that became so popular and famous throughout Europe. At it's peak, his company was producing 2000 Bentwood cafe chairs each day! These chairs are very elegant and strong and look particularly stylish when combined with our decorative cast iron tables such as the Scroll, Bar or Gothic table which are also designs based on 19th century models. Although our Bentwood chairs have a long heritage, they have a very modern appeal, perhaps because of the relative simplicity of their construction. We have our own in house upholstery department, and are therefore able to upholster these chairs in a wide variety of plain and patterned fabrics to give your customers extra comfort at only a little extra cost. Because we upholster these chairs here in the UK we use only the best UK produced combustion modified foam fillings and high quality FR fabrics in Tweed, Dralon or Flatwoven fabric.

The Fanback Side Chair has a design heritage dating back to the 19th century, first manufactured by the famous Thonet Company, designed by Michael Thonet utilizing his innovative steam bending technology to create highly attactive and individual looking chairs at mass produced prices. The steam bending process allows continuous lengths of timber to be shaped accurately into attractive forms that when combined together make strong and appealing chairs. The steam bending process retains the inherant strength of the timber and is far stronger than other methods of preparing bent wood forms. These chairs remain very popular as bar, restaurant or cafe chairs and are often selected with tables like the WT/1W WELLINGTON TABLE or the decorative CI/13 RECTANGULAR BAR TABLE.
